Finding Rest Amid the Rush
These past couple of months at the church have been full: planning meetings, ministry events, worship practices, men’s/women’s conferences, AWANA, growth group schedules, outreach efforts, and more. It’s a good kind of full — but it could be the kind of full that leaves us tired, scattered, and longing for something more than the next “to-do.”
And echoing through the pages of Scripture is this reassurance: “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” (Exodus 33:14)
What if the rest we’re seeking isn’t simply found in a quieter schedule, or a “day off” marked on the calendar — but in the presence of God that goes with us, amid the doing?
In Exodus 33, the people of Israel have just come out of Egypt, they’re journeying in the wilderness, and they sense the weight of what had happened in just a couple of months and the importance of what was ahead.
In that moment, Moses pleads with God: “If your presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.” And God responds: “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
That rest is tied to God’s presence — not the absence of activity.
And in Matthew 11, Jesus invites the tired and heavy-laden to come to Him. He says: “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11:29)
So ministry, service, worship — these are good things. But the invitation here is to put them in their proper place and that is on the backdrop of God’s presence. To be in His presence, not just do for Him.
So let’s recap:
- If you’re feeling the push-pull of church life — greeting, organizing, connecting, serving — remember: rest isn’t the next empty slot.
- Rest is the awareness: “God is here. His presence is with us.”
- And when that awareness roots us, our work becomes less about proving or feeling bad about not doing enough and more about abiding in Him.
- So let’s pause. We’ll still move, still serve — but let’s also linger. Let’s enter the tent of meeting, as Moses did outside the camp, and lean into the One who says, “I will give you rest.”
Prayer:
Lord, we thank You that You are with us. In the midst of our church’s busyness and life’s busyness, please teach us to learn from You, to find our identity in You, and to serve from the overflow of being in Your presence— not from the rush of doing. In Jesus’ name, amen.

God is doing a great work in hearts! Several have trusted in Christ lately and are ready to follow the Lord in believer's baptism. We are going to be baptizing after each service and celebrating with these new believers.

Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Collection
November 16
We are so excited about packing shoeboxes to send the Gospel and gifts of love to boys and girls around the world.
Everyone can be involved in this effort. Pick up your shoeboxes starting Sunday, October 26.
We ask that you:
1 - fill the box completely
3 - pray for the child who will receive the box
Please bring packed shoeboxes back no later than November 16.

We believe in the power of prayer. We would love for you to join us for this special time to seek the Lord together before the morning service.
Sunday @ 9:30 AM & 11:30 AM - Worship gathering
During the 9:30 AM service, there will be childcare through age 5.
During the 11:30 AM worship gathering, we will have childcare through 4th grade.
Check-in for childcare starts 15 minutes prior to each gathering.
Wednesday @ 7:00 PM - Bible Study
Come each Wednesday and be strengthened in your walk with the LORD and your connection with our church family. At the end of the Bible study, we break up into growth groups for discussion, connection, encouragement, and prayer.
