The B-I-B-L-E 📖
At Wednesday’s Bible study, Pastor Phillip talked about why we can trust the Bible.
Let’s recap!
In a world full of changing ideas, ancient religions, and modern doubts, how do we know we can trust the Bible? For Bible believing Christians, this isn’t just a theoretical question—it’s foundational.
Thankfully, the Bible gives us solid, Spirit-breathed reasons to believe it is trustworthy.
The Bible Claims to Be the Word of God.
The Bible isn’t shy about its Divine origin. Paul tells Timothy:
2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
That phrase "inspiration of God" means that Scripture comes directly from God Himself.
Peter echoes this truth:
2 Peter 1:20-21 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, 21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
The Bible is not man’s best thoughts about God. It is God’s clear Word to man.
The Bible Has Been Faithfully Preserved.
Despite being written over a time span of 1500 years, across 3 continents, and having been translated into nearly a thousand different languages, the message of the Bible has been preserved.
Jesus Himself said:
Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.
God's Word is not just inspired—it is enduring.
The Bible Speaks with One Voice.
Written by over 40 authors from different walks of life—kings, prophets, fishermen, tax collectors—over a span of roughly 1,500 years, the Bible tells one cohesive story: redemption through Jesus Christ.
From Genesis to Revelation, Scripture unfolds God’s plan to save sinners. John the Baptist identified Jesus by saying, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”(John 1:29). That’s the central message of the entire Bible. Its supernatural unity testifies to its divine origin.
The Bible Transforms Lives.
Perhaps the greatest evidence of the Bible’s trustworthiness is its power to change hearts. Hebrews 4:12 declares:
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
For centuries, people from every continent and background have found the Bible to be more than words on a page. It is the voice of the living God.
Trust the God Who gave the Word.
You can trust the Bible because you can trust the God who gave it. Jesus Himself affirmed its authority:
John 17:17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.
When we open Scripture, we’re not just reading about God—we’re hearing from Him. His promises are sure. His Word stands forever.
Have questions about what the Bible teaches? You're not alone. Bring your questions, your curiosity, and your desire to grow—we’ll explore God’s Word together. (Send your questions to Pastor Phillip here. He will endeavor to answer them biblically as he teaches through these doctrines.)
