Worship in Spirit and Truth
Psalm 95:6–7 “Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care.”
John 4:23 “Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.”
In the culture of today's Christian churches, we are often conditioned to view singing and prayer as worship. While these are aspects of worship, worship is an expression of worthiness and reverence due to worth. So for a child of God, worship is more than a song or a moment—it’s a posture of the heart, a lifestyle centered on the worthiness of God.
In Psalm 95, we are invited to humbly bow, kneel, and acknowledge the Lord as our Maker and Shepherd. The psalmist shows us how we should express our dependence on God and recognize that God is not only Creator but also our daily Provider and Protector.
In John 4, Jesus speaks to the Samaritan woman about true worship, and tells her that worship is no longer about location or tradition, but about sincerity and connection with the living God through the Holy Spirit.
Old Testament worship prepared hearts through reverence and sacrifice as it showed the death we deserve, but the payment that took our place. New Testament worship, fulfilled in Christ, invites us to draw near with confidence, offering ourselves as living sacrifices (Romans 12:1) and leads us to examine our own worship. Ask yourself the following questions, and ask the Holy Spirit to help you see the truth about your worship.
- Am I worshiping out of routine, or am I worshiping from the heart?
- Do I see worship as something I do, or something I live?
Let's make this our prayer:
Father, teach me to worship You in spirit and in truth. Help me to come before You with reverence, humility, and joy. Let every part of my life reflect Your glory and worth. Amen.

On Sunday, September 14, we will be launching a powerful partnership with World Vision - Chosen. This is a unique opportunity for us as a church family to make a difference in the lives of children in Sri Lanka.
Here’s the twist: this time the children will choose their sponsor! It’s a beautiful reflection of the Gospel — Jesus saw our need, offered us eternal life, and invites us to choose Him.

Sharing Hope in Crisis
September 27 at 9 am - 3 pm
The one-day Sharing Hope in Crisis seminar led by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association is intended for anyone and everyone in the church. All of us know a friend, neighbor or co-worker who is struggling with a life crisis. This seminar was developed to help you know what to say and what not to say when people grieve, and how to compassionately and appropriately share the love and hope of Jesus Christ. This training is also beneficial for first responders and church leaders who face suffering people on a regular basis.

Emmanuel Baptist Rescue Mission

Let's Go! We get to go together to serve the Lord Jesus and share His love with others on skid row. Everyone is welcome.
We will conduct a preaching service and share the Gospel with the attendees. Afterward, we will assist in serving the meal and cleaning up.

Sunday @ 9:30 AM & 11:30 AM - Worship gathering
During the 9:30 service, there will be childcare through age 5.
During the 11:30 worship gathering, we will have childcare through 4th grade.
Check-in for childcare starts 15 minutes prior to each gathering.
Wednesday @ 7:00 PM - Bible Study
Come each Wednesday for Bible study. Be strengthened in your walk with the LORD and your connection with our church family. Throughout the summer, we will have separate Bible studies for men and ladies. At the end of the Bible study, we break up into growth groups for discussion, connection, encouragement, and prayer.
