Revival: After the Fast
Our season of church-wide prayer and fasting has come to an end, but what God has been doing in us should not end with it.
Biblical revival has always been about a return to faithful, ongoing devotion to the Lord.
Throughout Scripture, moments of consecration were meant to lead God’s people into transformed, holy living. When a fast ends, the invitation remains. Walk in dedicated obedience, humility, and dependence on God every day.
The prophet Habakkuk prayed — not for a temporary move of God— but for a continued work:
Habakkuk 3:2 “O Lord, revive Your work in the midst of the years! In the midst of the years make it known.”
Revival is sustained when God’s Word continues to shape our choices and priorities. The psalmist reminds us that true blessing flows from a life rooted in God’s truth:
Psalm 1:1–2 “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly… But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night.”
When fasting ends, daily surrender must continue. Jesus calls us to a life marked by obedience, not just to live on spiritual highs:
Luke 9:23 “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.”
The fruit of revival is seen in steady faithfulness — hearts that remain soft, prayer that continues, repentance that persists, and a love for God that does not fade once the discipline of fasting concludes.
Let’s ask the Lord help us guard what He has stirred in us. We need to continue in humility and sensitivity to the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Revival can continue when we live surrendered lives.
