The last goes first ✝️
“But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.” Mark 10:31
Jesus says things that really make us think. They hopefully help us to pause and search our hearts to see our true purpose and motivation.
When we allow ourselves to be first — essentially putting God to the side to build our kingdom instead of His — we miss out on the AWESOME purpose God created us for. Instead, we move ourselves to a place that’s less than what we were created for.
Why do we go first? Are we selfish? Maybe we are sometimes. I wonder though if it could be that we’re afraid and as a result we don’t trust God as we should.
Warren Wiersbe put it this way,
“Since Jesus Christ today has all authority, we may obey Him without fear. No matter where He leads us, no matter what circumstances we face, He is in control. By His death and resurrection, Jesus defeated all enemies and won for Himself all authority.
Christianity is a missionary faith. The very nature of God demands this, for God is love and God is not willing that any should perish (2 Peter 3:9). Our Lord’s death on the cross was for the whole world. If we are the children of God and share His nature, then we will want to tell the good news to the lost world.
When we read the Book of Acts, we see that the early church operated on the basis of the Lord’s sovereign authority. They ministered in His name. They depended on His power and guidance. They did not face a lost world on the basis of their own authority but on the authority of Jesus Christ.”
Crosspoint, we can live out the calling of God on our lives without fear. We have the power and presence of God to do it. Have you put God first?

If Opportunity knocked are we ready?
We have been praying for some time now that God would bless us with a building of our own, and we believe He will do it in His timing and in His way. There is currently a property on the market that would be a tremendous asset to our ministry if the Lord provided it for us. However, a downpayment and the monthly payments for a property like this would be out of our reach at this time.
We should prepare for an opportunity by setting aside money and giving generously to a building fund. Would you ask the Lord what He would lead you to give (above your tithe) to help us prepare for the opportunity when God brings it our way?
God is able, but He expects us to be obedient!
