Moving Forward Together

Week Four: Building for the Next Generation

As we prepare to move into our new space at World Vision in Monrovia, it’s easy to focus on what’s changing around us. A larger space means more room, new routines, and plenty of practical details to work through.

But ultimately, our move isn't about having more room. It's about making more room.

More room for people to hear the gospel, and more room for people to grow in Christ.

We’re making more room for children to encounter Jesus. We are preparing room for the next generation to know and follow Him. Jesus said it like this,

“Whoever receives one of these little children in My name receives Me…” Mark 9:37

Faith That Is Passed On

In Deuteronomy 6:4–9, Moses gives Israel a picture of what it looks like to build a life centered on God. His commands weren't meant to remain within the walls of a gathering place or even a select group of people. They were to become part of everyday life—talked about in homes, taught to children, shared with strangers who became neighbors and carried from one generation to the next.

God's people were never meant to simply receive the faith. We are called to pass it on.

“We will not hide them from their children, telling to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and His strength and His wonderful works that He has done.” Psalm 78:4

That is part of what we're doing as a church.

We aren't simply preparing a larger space for ourselves. We're preparing for the people God has yet to bring through our doors. We’re preparing it for the next generation who will carry the Light after we’re gone.

Every week at Crosspoint, people walk through our doors with questions, pain, doubt, and often, a longing to know God.

These people and others will be equipped to be leaders in the body who may one day serve, teach, disciple, and help others follow Jesus.

We may not know their names yet, but God does.

Every Sacrifice Is an Investment

As we make this transition, there will be sacrifices. Moving takes time, energy, resources, flexibility, and the willingness to serve in ways that may not always be convenient.

But what if we viewed those sacrifices differently?

What if we saw them as an investment in eternity?

Matthew 28:18–20 reminds us that Jesus has given His Church a mission: make disciples. That's why we exist. That's why we serve. That's why we're willing to stretch, sacrifice, and make room. The building is simply a tool.

People are the mission.

And every time we serve a child, welcome a new family, set up a room, greet someone at the door, teach a Bible study, lead a small group, or make space for someone who is searching for Jesus, we are participating in something that has eternal significance.

Looking Beyond Ourselves

John wrote in 3 John 4, “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.”

A family welcomed into the church may help another family find Jesus. A new believer discipled today may disciple many others. We don't always get to see the whole story. But we can be faithful with our part.

As we move forward together, let's remember that we aren't simply building for our generation. We're building a church culture that will help the next generation know the faith, love Jesus, serve His Church, and carry the gospel forward.

So as we prepare for this next season at Crosspoint, let's pray.

Let's pray for the people who will walk through those doors.

Let's pray for the children who will grow in their knowledge of Jesus.

Let's pray for people who don't know Christ yet.

And let's pray that everything we do keeps Jesus at the center.

We're moving forward together, trusting God with what comes next.
