Rest for the Weary Soul
Matthew 11:28–30 “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
We live in a world that praises hustle and busyness. And even though a strong work ethic is commended in scripture, what Jesus teaches us is something radically different than the daily grind the world offers. He offers rest, not just for our bodies, but for our souls.
In this passage, Jesus invites all who are worn out and weighed down to come to Him. He doesn’t offer a to-do list. He simply says, “Come.” He knows the burdens we carry — stress, fear, guilt, grief, etc. — and He offers peace in exchange.
Taking on Jesus’ yoke means surrendering control and letting Him lead us. Being in a yoke with Him means that He is guiding and strengthening us. His yoke is easy, not because life becomes effortless, but because He shoulders the load with us and puts us on the path we’re made for.
Rather than living in overwhelm, Jesus invites us to come close and find rest in Him. In a yoke, we can’t pull our own direction without a lot of discomfort and even pain. We get to be joyfully linked together — with Jesus.
Pause and Reflect:
What burdens are you carrying today? Take a moment to talk to God about them, and enjoy the rest He offers as you yoke up with Him.

Let's Go! We get to go together to serve the Lord Jesus and share His love with others on skid row. Everyone is welcome.
We will conduct a preaching service and share the Gospel with the attendees. Afterward, we will assist in serving the meal and cleaning up.

Baptism Sunday
August 24
God is doing a great work in hearts! Several have trusted in Christ lately and are ready to follow the Lord in believer's baptism. We are going to be baptizing after each service and celebrating with these new believers.

Sunday @ 9 AM - Prayer
We believe in the power of prayer. We would love for you to join us for this special time to seek the Lord together before the morning service.
Sunday @ 9:30 AM & 11:30 AM - Worship gathering
During the 9:30 service, there will be childcare through age 5.
During the 11:30 worship gathering, we will have childcare through 4th grade.
Check-in for childcare starts 15 minutes prior to each gathering.
Wednesday @ 7:00 PM - Bible Study
Come each Wednesday for Bible study. Be strengthened in your walk with the LORD and your connection with our church family. Throughout the summer, we will have separate Bible studies for men and ladies. At the end of the Bible study, we break up into growth groups for discussion, connection, encouragement, and prayer.

Wednesday @ 7:00 PM - Summer Kids
A summer kids program will run every week in its place for ages 0-5th grade. Check in starts at 6:45 pm.
(Our Awana discipleship program for kids will resume at the end of summer)
