The Good News

1 Corinthians 15:1a, 3-4  Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel… For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

gospel: εὐαγγέλιον (euangelion) yoo-ang-ghel'-ee-on: good tidings; the glad tidings of salvation through Christ; the proclamation of the grace of God manifest and pledged in Christ

Paul received the gospel. Saul of Tarsus (later known as the apostle Paul) was a very religious man who zealously sought out people who turned from the Jewish religion to be followers of Jesus Christ. After an encounter with Jesus, Saul received the good news. He believed the Gospel and was completely transformed!

Paul then shared the gospel. Having been set free from sin (which included his reliance upon his own good deeds and religion to earn salvation), Paul began passionately sharing the good news with all who would listen. His ministry throughout the Mediterranean region of Asia and Europe was extremely effective in reaching many people with the gospel of Jesus Christ. He faced many hardships and persecution, but he remained faithful to Jesus until the end of his life.

We should faithfully share the good news too. As children of God, we are responsible to tell others about Jesus Christ, and we should want to as well! This weekend, we as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ together as a church family, who could you invite to come? Maybe you even want to encourage them to come meet you early to hang out before the service or eat lunch together afterwards. Let them see the difference Jesus is making in you!
