Grieving with Hope 🥲🙏
Grief is one of the hardest parts of living in a broken world. Grief ofter results from loss.
Loss comes in many forms, and while every story is different, the ache is something we all understand in one way or another.
This week has been a harder one for me. Phillip and I remember the miscarriage of our precious baby - one year ago. Even though we’ve been sad. We are so thankful for the hope Jesus gives - and the promise of Heaven.
Our desire is to be there for others who are grieving and have experienced loss. God has comforted us. Some wounds are fresh, while others quietly follow us for years. But even in times of grief and pain, we are never abandoned by God.
Psalm 139 reminds us that God sees us fully and knows us completely: “O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me.”
…and later,
You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.” Psalms 139:1, 16
What a comfort to know that God is not distant from our pain. He is near to the brokenhearted. He sees every tear, every question, every sleepless night, and every moment we feel too weak to carry on.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.” Psalms 34:18
Even though grief is real, and it hurts deeply. For believers in Jesus, grief is never hopeless.
We mourn with hope because Jesus has overcome death, and heaven is real. One day, every tear will be wiped away - in His presence.
Until then, God comforts us through His Spirit, through His Word, and often through the people He places around us. We were never meant to carry burdens alone. If you are walking through loss or heartache right now, I want you to know this: you are loved, seen, and not forgotten. God is with you, and your church family is here too.
