Wisdom Journey – Week 2
Trusting God's Wisdom Above Our Own
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5–6
One of the greatest obstacles to wisdom is self-reliance. We naturally trust our own opinions, experiences, and feelings. Yet, as we talked about last week, Proverbs reminds us that true wisdom begins when we place our confidence in God rather than ourselves. We need that reverential fear of God.
Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. Proverbs 3:7
It is possible to have knowledge and still lack wisdom.
Wisdom is not simply knowing facts; it is submitting our thoughts and decisions to the Lord. A wise person recognizes that God's perspective is always higher, clearer, and more trustworthy than their own.
There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death. Proverbs 14:12
Our feelings and flesh can sometimes lead us astray, and that is why God's Word serves as a lamp to guide our feet and a light to our paths.
Trusting God does not mean we will always understand what God is doing. It means we believe His wisdom is greater than ours and choose to follow Him even when it may not make sense to us or to the world.
Trusting God = Wisdom = Direction
As a church family, let's ask the Lord to examine our hearts this week.
- Am I relying on my own understanding or seeking God's wisdom?
- Are there decisions I have made without prayer or biblical counsel?
- Is there an area where God is asking me to trust Him more fully?
- Am I willing to obey God's Word even when I don't understand His reasons?
Wisdom grows when we learn to trust God's voice above our own.
This week, spend time reading Proverbs chapters 4–6. Ask the Lord to reveal any areas where you have been leaning on your own understanding. Pray for a heart that trusts Him completely and follows His direction with confidence and obedience.
