We are so excited for this socially distanced church camping trip. We have reserved camping spots at Quaking Aspen Campground in the Sequoia National Forest arriving Wednesday (Aug 26) and leaving Friday (Aug 28). We were able to book spots in the shade of trees at a higher elevation. We should have some very moderate weather, and because of this, campfires are allowed here!
It’s almost a 4 hour drive. It’s close to the Giant Sequoia National Monument so there is much to do and see, especially if you love the great outdoors.
If you want to come but you’re not the biggest fan of cooking or sleeping outside, we have options. You can make your own reservation here for a yurt rental at the campground. (There are only a couple of those available.) https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/232827
Also, supplies and more are available at the Ponderosa Lodge located 2 miles away from the campground. Here’s a link to the Ponderosa which offers a restaurant, lodging and a general store. https://www.pondolodge.com
If you plan to go and stay at a campsite we reserved, we ask that you let us know, and pay by Sunday, August 16. The cost is $30 a night for your own campsite. However, if you’re single or a couple we can bring that cost way down by you sharing the campsite with another single person or couple. Six people (or two tents) are allowed per site.
If we don’t hear from you before August 16th, confirming you are coming, we will let any extra campsites we’ve reserved go.
We’re excited! This is going to be fun!
