Jesus— Our Peace
In a world that feels loud, divided, and often unsettled, the promise of peace can seem distant.
But Scripture clearly reminds us that peace is not found in what this world offers; it is a Person we belong to.
The apostle Paul writes, “For He Himself is our peace.” (Ephesians 2:14)
Notice he does not say Jesus gives peace as something separate from Himself. He is our peace. Our confidence is not rooted in changing situations but in the unchanging character of Christ.
On the night before Jesus went to the cross, He told His disciples, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27)
As we go on to read the New Testament, we see that this was not the promise of an easy road. It was the promise of a present God and eternal life.
Because we have been justified by faith, “we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:1)
The deepest conflict of our life— our separation from God — has been settled at the cross. The war within has been silenced— by grace— the moment Jesus becomes our Lord and Savior.
And when anxieties rise, we are invited into a daily surrender:
Philippians 4:6–7 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Church family, our peace is not fragile. It does not depend on headlines, outcomes, or feelings. It is anchored in Jesus — crucified, risen, reigning and coming again.
Let us draw near to Him this week. Sit at His feet. Speak His promises over your life. Walk in reconciliation with one another. The Prince of Peace is not distant. He is with us — and He Himself is our peace.
