Repentant Hearts - The Pathway to Revival
Sunday is the last day of our 21 days of prayer and fasting! Let me encourage you to finish strong!
What does finishing this strong look like?
As we have mentioned over the last few weeks, fasting isn’t about making ourselves look spiritual or about suffering to get God’s attention or just an exercise in self control.
The Lord is inviting us deeper — not just into discipline, but into repentance and true revival. Revival is not something we manufacture through self-effort; it is something God does in us when His people humble themselves and return to Him with sincere hearts.
Scripture gives us a clear picture of how this spiritual awakening begins:
2 Chronicles 7:14 “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
True repentance is more than feeling or saying sorry. Repentance brings Spirit-led renovation in our hearts, our priorities, and our obedience. As we fast and pray, the Holy Spirit lovingly exposes areas that need forgiveness, surrender, healing, and realignment with God’s will.
David’s prayer of repentance reminds us of God’s desire:
Psalm 51:17 “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart — These, O God, You will not despise.”
When God’s people repent, it creates room for His Spirit to fill us. And this brings revival.
Revival begins privately before it is ever seen publicly. It starts in prayer closets, at kitchen tables, in quiet moments of surrender, and in honest confession before the Lord - and even to each other.
James 5:16 “And confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”
Church family, as we fast, let’s not rush past repentance. Let us invite the Lord to search our hearts, cleanse our motives, restore our first love, and rekindle a holy passion for Him.
May this be a season where our prayer grows, repentance flows freely, and revival begins in us — so that God may move through us.
